According to Wikipedia, Earth Hour is designed to “to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.” Thank god for that. We keep hearing how everything is just jim-dandy and our environment continues to get better with each passing day. Kudos to Earth Hour for setting the record straight on this underreported phenomena!
This brings me back to the days following Hurricane Katrina, remember, it was wall-to-wall coverage of the blind leading the blind and all those people dying. One could not miss coverage of the hurricane and its aftermath. So, some time into it, Christina Aguilera goes on Larry King – I think – to talk about the disaster. And when Larry asks her why she is there, her response is “to raise awareness.” I nearly ejected the Hummus I was eating out of my nose.
